How to Attract a Crowd BEFORE Crowdfunding

Most first-time crowdfunders think that you should go on a platform like Kickstarter or Indiegogo to attract a crowd. Not true.

Yes, it is 100% possible to get regular backers from the Kickstarter marketplace interested in your campaign. But, you shouldn’t start with that mindset.

The best Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns bring their own mini-crowd, which gives them the social proof and momentum necessary to reach regular backers.

I know, it seems like a lot of work. It actually sounds kind of mysterious.

How do you get people to follow you online?

I’ve put together a YouTube video to share exactly how to build a following online.

If you enjoyed the vid, can you take a sec to give me a thumbs up on YouTube?

The reason I wanted to talk about this topic is that I struggled with this very same challenge when I first discovered the online world.

I kept thinking… why would anyone pay attention to me?

When I was in high school in Massachusetts, I launched my very first blog.

It took some time, but I eventually grew it! In total, it ended up doing 212,890 views.

Haha, those numbers are super small compared to what I do now a days with multiple websites.

Despite getting some good traffic, I decided to close that blog down for a bit in 2011. That was a dumb mistake, but I thought it wasn’t going anywhere. I didn’t know how to monetize it.

Even though this blog ended up dying, I learned an important lesson in growing my online presence.

Since then, I’ve grown an email list to over 10,000 subscribers, forums with over 16,000 members in total, and multiple twitter accounts with over a hundred thousand followers in total.

I’m now working on building up my YouTube channel and Instagram account.

Looking back, I’ve mastered the art of driving traffic to websites and products. I want to teach you to do the same!

I hope that you enjoy the YouTube video and if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment on it! I’d love to hear from ya.
