Kathleen Minogue, also known as the “crowdfunding whisperer,” just broke down the step-by-step plan that you need to follow to launch a successful crowdfunding campaign.

In our interview, I got her to share things that she normally wouldn’t share, including the real reason why people back crowdfunding campaigns.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out her website, Kathleen is a key consultant in the crowdfunding industry and a prolific speaker.

You can think of this interview as a free consultation for you!

Overall, I admire her work and her view on how crowdfunding can spur economic development.

But, I think you’ll like her most for the practical tips that she shares in this interview and the real secret of crowdfunding (hint: it’s not just about the money).

In this podcast episode, you’ll learn:

  • How crowdfunding really works and why it’s so effective.
  • What you need to do to launch a successful campaign.
  • Why people back and support crowdfunding campaigns
  • How the “rule of 3” will play into your marketing.
  • A dramatic shift in our economy and why it’s happening.
  • Building a career with crowdfunding (yes it’s possible).
  • The #1 thing to do before launching your campaign.
  • How to segment your email list and deliver marketing messages
  • Why crowdfunding goes hand in hand with economic development.

Sal…every podcast gets more and more interesting and full of rich,
invaluable content!!Every question is a question I have or have
encountered as a something I need an answer to! Ms. Mingoue brought up
elements that I had never thought to bridge the business with the aspect
of crowdfunding. The tips she gave really gave me insight to the pre
-pre launch strategy. I think one of the key idea you have really taught
me is the need to be able to think long term and establish yourself.
“What else besides money” is an awesome way I have digested as our
company is a benefits corporation that is grounded in the meaning behind
what we do! Sal…YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!!! And thank you so much to
    your guest insight and information.

    • Yes, think long term! That’s how you can make the most out of a campaign. Thank you for listening and letting me know what value you got out of the interview.

I’m late to Crowd Crux but grateful I found it. Like previous commentors, this podcast with Kathleen Minogue was really good. It started me thinking about the email contacts I have and who might also be able to share with businesses they work in (if I help them by writing the email for them to simply forward).

However… is there a relatively easy way to segment the list? Are there service providers that can create the list into a form etc that something like MailChimp would be able to use easily? Perhaps there’s an app waiting to be designed! Any suggestions appreciated as I want to segment in the most useable way
